Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy (OT) is a somewhat misleading name for services that focus on the activities of daily life — personal grooming, dining, dressing oneself and so on — which occupy some portion of a person’s time every day and which are important to independence. The very circumstances which hinder free movement will also have an impact on a person’s ability to perform these daily tasks. For this reason, many people receive both physical and occupational therapy.
Occupational therapy may be performed in the privacy of a person’s residence at Treyton Oak Towers, but wherever it occurs, it involves the repetition of prescribed exercises and tasks which are intended to promote the person’s ability to perform those necessary daily routines for himself or herself.
Our occupational and physical therapy professionals work closely to coordinate treatment and to ensure that details which may affect that treatment are shared and productive approaches discussed.
We believe in promoting as much autonomy as possible for our residents and services like occupational therapy help us achieve that goal.
