The Importance of Speech
Few things impact our social and emotional well-being as our ability to communicate with others. Yet the same factors that affect a person’s ability to move comfortably can also have an impact on speech and language.
Speech therapy focuses on restoring and refining that ability to communicate verbally. In addition, the circumstances which impair a person’s speech can also hinder functions like swallowing, and our speech therapy team works to restore this vital function as well.
We work closely with the resident to develop repetitive exercises designed specifically to return the function which has been lost. We also involve the family so that progress can be celebrated and so that they can be made fully aware of their loved one’s condition and limitations.
Whether one of our residents is receiving physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy or some combination of these, we do everything in our power to help that person reach his or her potential, safely and comfortably, in an environment of trust and care.
If you have questions about our speech therapy services, staff of therapists, or would like to see our facilities in person, feel free to contact us. We can’t wait to hear from you!
